UAE Lottery Operator Prepares for Online Casino and Sportsbook Launch

In June 2025, Momentum Gaming – the licensed operator of the UAE’s national lottery – took a decisive step toward digital gambling by advertising key executive positions for an upcoming online casino and sportsbook platform.
The job listings, published on multiple recruitment channels, invited candidates to lead product strategy, content partnerships, and operations for what was described as an “early-stage online casino and sports book brand preparing to launch.”
Job listings reveal strategic move into regulated iGaming
Key Roles Highlight Digital Ambitions
The recruitment drive included titles such as:
- Casino Games Manager
- Sportsbook Commercial Director
- iGaming Product Specialist
Descriptions suggested a full-fledged B2C operation with ambitions to become a “leading regulated iGaming brand in the region.” Roles emphasized experience in regulated jurisdictions, content aggregation, gamification, and platform operations—pointing clearly to a real-money gaming product in development.
Anticipating Future Regulation
While the UAE has not yet issued any online gaming licenses, the regulatory authority (GCGRA) has confirmed that internet-based gambling falls under its jurisdiction. Industry speculation has pointed toward a model allowing one online license per emirate, subject to local approval.
Momentum’s move is widely interpreted as preparation to secure one of these future licenses, leveraging its established trust and operational experience through the national lottery.
This development signals a pivotal shift: the country’s iGaming infrastructure is no longer a question of “if,” but “when.” As licensing frameworks near completion, Momentum appears ready to lead the launch of legal online gambling in the UAE.
